A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life following a series of fires in north London, including one at UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s former home. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that their Counter Terrorism Command is now leading the investigation due to Starmer’s high-profile status.

In the early hours of Monday morning, emergency services responded to a fire at a residential property in Kentish Town—an area that Keir Starmer represents in Parliament. Though no injuries were reported, the entrance of the home was visibly damaged.
Police are also examining two other incidents: a fire at a nearby Islington property on Sunday and a vehicle fire in Kentish Town last Thursday. Investigators are working to determine if these incidents are connected. According to a BBC report, the Islington property is also linked to the Prime Minister, who previously lived there with his wife and two children before moving to 10 Downing Street in July.
Due to the property’s link to a sitting Prime Minister, London’s Counter Terrorism Command has taken over the investigation. A spokesperson for Prime Minister Starmer thanked emergency services for their swift action.
The arrested suspect remains in custody as officers piece together the timeline and motive behind the attacks.
